FAQ

  • Who makes the art?

All art in my shop is drawn by me, Jorey Hurley. More than a decade ago, I began a practice of making a drawing each night based on something that I did that day with my kids. I still draw every day. I publish a new drawing every week on Instagram. I review and sign each print before it leaves the studio on the way to your home.

  • Can you make me a custom artwork?

The only changes I will make to the artwork itself is changing human hair and skin color. I want everyone to be able to see themselves in my art so there is no cost to this change. If you would like me to change hair and or skin color, please include your request in the field for notes during checkout and I will confirm before I make the change. Does not apply to dog fur color. I no longer draw custom artwork, but I often make several studies before posting a piece of art, so I may have other versions in my archive. Message me your specific request and I will see what I have.

  • Do you sell originals?

No. While I often sketch or explore other mediums for inspiration, the artwork as shown in my shop is ultimately a digital-first creative process with multiple prints. For certain avid collectors, I have made a one-of-a-kind piece for which they will have the only print, but this is the rare exception. If you are interested in a one-of-a-kind print, please reach out to me directly.

  • Do you print custom sizes?

Yes, for unframed prints. If you'd like a custom size, please order the next size up, and that will be the price. For example if you'd like an 18x24 inch unframed print, you would order the 24x30 inch unframed print. Please provide the paper dimensions you want in the box for notes at checkout. II'll confirm your customization when the order comes through and then re-size the image and trim down the paper to your specifications. Custom sizes cannot be returned (though we will replace if damaged in shipping). If you would like a print larger than 35x44 inches, please email studio@joreyhurley.com and I can provide pricing and arrange to invoice you.

  • What do you print on?

I print on museum-quality, cold press paper that has a slight texture similar to watercolor paper. I use archival inks. All prints on this site are printed and signed by me. While this is a premium material, it is still paper which means will curl in high humidity environments without adequate air conditioning. I would not recommend my art prints for this reason for basement rec rooms, screened porches, unventilated bathrooms, indoor-outdoor pool houses and spas.

  • Do you sell digital downloads that I can print myself?

No. My shop only sells prints on museum-quality, cold press paper printed here in my studio. The only way my art is available digitally is for a limited number of pieces available on the Samsung Frame TV (not for printing). For all of my art I maintain the rights to reproduction and licensing of the work.

  • Does your art fit in standard frames?

Yes. The unframed 8x10 inch and 16x20 unframed prints are made to fit standard sized frame openings. Always best to check the dimensions of the specific frame that you are considering to make sure it will appear you intend. The dimensions of the print are edge-to-edge dimensions (e.g. an unframed 8x10 is an 8 inch by 10 inch piece of paper) and include a white border around the edge.

  • What are your frames made of?

Solid FSC Certified Maple for the wood frames shown in the listing photos. I love that they’re made from sustainably-farmed wood and that I can reliably ship them to arrive in pristine condition, ready-to-hang. I believe the work looks great in other frames as well, which is why you will see other frame colors in some of my photos.

  • Do you have other frame colors?

Yes. For other frame colors, I can custom order but it will add two weeks to the overall ship time. If you are happy to wait, we are happy to get you the frame you want. The steps are (1) Send me a note with your frame color preference at studio@joreyhurley.com (2) Purchase the standard framed option in the size that you want (3) We will order your frame color from American Frame, a family owned framing business in Ohio who we have worked with for years.

  • How long does it take to get to me?

10 days is a good planning number - with a range from the earliest possible of 5 days to 15 days if there is a storm or major holiday. We make each print here in our studio and ship it out within a week but there is some variability once it goes into the postal service.

  • Can I pay for expedited shipping?

Yes. Included in the price of your art print is our standard ground shipping which is USPS for most prints and UPS for large framed prints. If you would like to pay for express shipping that option is available at check out. This only decreases the ship time so still plan for about a week (5 days to make your print, 2 days of express shipping) for you to get your art.

  • What happens if it is delayed or lost?

We first track it from our side to see where it last scanned in. If it's on the way but moving slowly, we ask that you wait one day to see if it arrives. If it doesn't, we will ship you a replacement piece of art at no additional cost, and provide a pre-paid return shipping label for the original shipment if/when it eventually arrives at your home.

  • What if the art is damaged during shipping?

You send me photos of the damage. I will print you a new piece of art and ship it to you. I will also send you a prepaid return shipping label to send back the damaged piece to me so we improve our process and understand where things went wrong.

  • What if the art itself is unsigned or the wrong version of an art piece?

I will get you the art that you want. I take great pride that every piece of art is made to order in the studio and signed by me personally before it ships - but sometimes I make mistakes. When that happens, send me a photo of the missing signature or anything that is amiss and I will begin working on getting you a replacement.

  • Can I return my art?

Yes for unframed standard sizes. No for framed or custom sizes. I understand sometimes that art just does not work in the space the way you thought. For standard unframed prints, you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. To start a return, you can contact us at studio@joreyhurley.com. We will refund you once it arrives back in our studio.

  • Can you help me select a piece of art?

Yes. I am happy to suggest a piece of art or a group that will work for your home. I have made thousands of drawings over the years. Today, about 500 of those are on this website available for sale. If you have a specific subject that you are searching for, just let me know and I will see what I can find.

  • Can I add a gift note?

Yes. I am happy to add a gift note. We do not offer gift wrapping because the art print are package primarily to prevent damage in shipping.

  • Do you have gift cards?

Yes. We offer gift cards that align well to our standard print sizes.

We are here to help.
