I was inspired to create this artwork during the years my family lived full-time in San Francisco, when the Presidio National Park was our home while our kids were growing up. Each winter, we witnessed larger numbers of monarch butterflies overwintering there, resting among the trees and open meadows. This piece is my way of holding onto that memory — of California light, time spent outdoors, and the quiet magic of watching nature become part of everyday life.
