The town where I live plants these icelandic poppies along the waterfront trail, and I love to see them bloom every June. Whenever I draw this kind of poppy, I feel like I’m paying tribute to Scandinavian designer Maija Isola, who created the iconic poppies pattern for Finnish textile brand Marimekko.
