After our recent nor'easter, I made this drawing to bring the quiet beauty of a New England morning inside. Our home was ok but there were a couple of days of watching our old birch tree and wishing that only the small branches would break off. This drawingis inspired by that scene - the fallen leaves covering the ground on the first sunny morning after the storm, with a little brown bird hoping along on top of them..
I was inspired by a walk I took the morning after a dramatic storm had moved through. The wind had left leaves covering the ground, but the storm had passed and everything felt remarkably still. As I walked, I noticed a little brown wren moving through the leaves, quietly going about its morning. It was such a simple moment, but the contrast between the power of the storm and the peacefulness that followed stayed with me.
This wren art print celebrates the small moments that make an ordinary walk memorable: the sound of leaves underfoot, a bird moving through the landscape, and the calm that arrives after a storm. With its simple composition and natural subject, it works beautifully as bird wall art, nature-inspired wall decor, or a quiet addition to a coastal or New England home.
